Umpqua Bank set out to reinvent retail banking, and its many innovations have helped it expand aggressively. Essential to the Umpqua’s brand strategy is local community participation, so Rumblefish created a brand-building music program that invites employees, customers, and non-customers alike to discover and enjoy their local music scenes.
The Discover Local Music Project puts Umpqua’s principles into action by combining great music from local artists with the bank’s ever-expanding distribution capability. Rumblefish seeks out the best local artists and “signs” them into the Discover Local Music Catalog. Then we create ways to showcase their talents while simultaneously raising brand awareness for the bank.
From a music-on-demand website and bi-annual best-of compilations to in-store listening kiosks and artist CD merchandising, the Discover Local Music Project positions Umpqua as a valuable contributor to local cultural scenes. And the project’s value can also be quantified: a music rewards program helped increase new deposits by 20%!
